Direct freehand restoration of anterior teeth with resign composite can be challenging, especially as there is no clear guidance available on the shape and thickness of each layer applied. One strategy that gives the practitioner control over layer shape and thickness during the restorative procedure is StyleItaliano’s simplified dual-layer technique. In this strategy, restorations are supported by a silicone index, an individual shade guide created with the same materials used in the mouth, and an instrument that helps implement a final enamel layer thickness of exactly 0.5mm.
